Vanessa reached out to me with an extra special request, she wanted to gift her mother a photo shoot for Mother's Day. However, she also wanted to incorporate her mother's horses. There's always a first time for everything, and their session was my first session with horses! I reached out to some wonderful colleagues and got some location suggestions as well as it was recommended that I bring an assistant. Luckily, I knew someone who would fit that bill perfectly. Taylor helped me keep the horses organized as well as getting their attention to keep them looking forward and keep their ears up. With her help and skill with horses we were able to capture these wonderful moments for Vanessa's mother for Mother's Day.
The day we did Vanessa's family photos it was insanely windy at Standley Lake. Yet with 3 horses, 3 dogs and the family we made some magic happen with these larger group shots.
This sunset shot is one of my favorites from their session. Even though it was my very first session with horses, I hope its not the last. This was a wonderful experience to share with their family!

April 2018
As a parent, it is always a special moment when your first baby reaches one. It is also special as a photographer when you are invited to document this moment with the family. I had a great day at the Clear Creek History Park in Golden with the "T" family. The weather was perfect, the tress were still blossoming and Hunter was happy!
There is no great love than a mother and her child. This shot documents that perfectly. The pure joy on Dawnelle's face is incredible. I also absolutely love how their outfits happened to coordinate perfectly with the spring blossoms.
After we wrapped up all of their formal family shots it was time for Hunter to get some cake. He looks pretty happy about this!
That look you have when you just had cake for one of the first times!

Downtown Denver Colorado
Millennium Bridge
April 2018
I met up with Delilah and her family on a gorgeous spring day in downtown Denver. Her father also had the opportunity to join us for some of the family shots. Their outfits were coordinated perfectly and their portraits show off their wonderful family. We started their session at the Millennium Bridge. Luckily if you hit up this area early on a Sunday morning you don't have to deal with too much foot traffic or distractions!
The architecture of this area is gorgeous. It definitely follows that urban downtown look that families are going for if they don't want a traditional outdoor session.
I am absolutely in love of with this shot of Aubrey and her grandfather. My favorite shots to capture on un-posed true emotion and this show that perfectly. Her happiness shine in this image!
When shooting my family sessions, I always incorporate individual shots of the kids too. When I showed him this photo on the back of my camera he looked at me and said, "wow, I look just like a painting!" The innocence of children is so inspiring!
We finished up their session at Confluence Park across the street from the Millennium Bridge. Kids just want to be kids and when you let them run and play you can again capture the true joy and happiness they share. The shot below is one of my favorites from their session.
Finally we wrapped up with the shot that mom wanted, a kiss from both of her kiddos. We asked repeatedly, and the didn't want to do it. They had warmed up to me, and mom enough, and we got them to do it at the very end of their session. I'd say it was a success!

Mark and Jessica's wedding at The Pines at Genesee was beautiful! As I left Denver to drive up to Golden it was pouring down rain. As a photographer and a bride the last thing people want is rain on their wedding day. However as I continued to make my way up to Golden that dreaded rain turned into beautiful fluffy white snow.
Mark and Jessica had planned to wed outdoors in the Pines forest amphitheater however with all the snow their ceremony did have to be relocated in doors. yet, that snow didn't stop us from taking these absolutely stunning outdoor wedding portraits.
What more could a bride ask for when taking her personal bridal portraits. The snow, the lights, her dress. It was perfect!
The groomsmen had an idea for this "mob" style shot. I think we pulled it off just right!
Capturing some of the finer details of a wedding are some of my favorite shots to play with. Their details were simple yet so elegant. And check out that dessert table, yummy!
Jessica and her father did a traditional Waltz for their father daughter dance. They clearly were having a ton of fun and pulled the dance of perfectly!
I absolutely love this shot of Jessica with her Father. Her dress looks so beautiful.
When your photographers get "bossy" and tell you the light is just right for their perfect formal shots, and your couple comes running out like this! What more can you ask for? That genuine love and excitement is 100% present in this image!
And we were right, that light was stunning made these formal photos exactly what we hoped for!!

Dawn and I go back over a decade, It is crazy how fast 10 years can go by! I can't believe we have known each other for that long already. Over the years her family has continued to grow! I have been fortunate enough to photograph both of their seniors this past year and now it was time for another family session.
As the crazy weather continued in April, we had planned for a cute spring session outdoors. Sure the weather was less than ideal with temperatures in the 30s, clouds and some potential snowflakes in the sky. However, their seniors will be leaving home soon and just because of the cold in the air we couldn't attempt to reschedule their session. Trying to get a BUSY family of 7 together is a tough task, this was our only shot to complete their family session before graduation!
Even though their outfits had to be completely changed from their previous plan, this family pulled off some great coordination and we were able to get some wonderful family shots.
The Carlson's puppy ,Lilo, is so stinking cute. I love that his tongue is sticking out in this photo. I couldn't have asked for a more candid dog portrait with the kiddos!
Such a beautiful family at their beautiful home. Happy to have know Dawn and her family over all these years!

Jacob and Adriana had just moved to Colorado a little over a month before they selected me as their photographer. It’s always an honor to be selected to shoot an engagement session! Since they were new to Colorado they wanted some rustic and authentic Colorado backgrounds for their "save the date" announcements. After a few suggestions we decided on this amazing location in Evergreen. I seriously can not wait to shoot here again. Every time I look back on their engagement session it puts such a smile on my face! The light was perfect, the weather was fantastic, and we were lucky! If anyone remembers April, we had rain or snow almost every weekend, which can be a nightmare when you’re attempting to plan an OUTDOOR photography session.
I couldn't be happier with their final images. Jacob and Adriana were so joyful together. Their images show their happiness and it was very hard to narrow down their final blog selection. Capturing true love with a candid shots is my favorite!
Check out their preview below!
I love couples that want to be adventurous and they fit that brand perfectly. We were really able to take full advantage of these rock formations and truly make their engagement session what they had envisioned.
As we were headed to our final location, the sun was starting to set. We were able to get that magical golden light everyone hopes for. Keep scrolling to see these last few images from their session. I seriously could hot have asked for a more perfect night for their session!

As my network with other photographers continues to grow, so does my skill level and knowledge in the world of photography. About a year ago I was added into a social media group of photographers in the Denver area. With this group I have gained a plethora of information. This includes where to post photos, how to use hashtags, how to get your images published and more. I was also introduced to the Shoot and Share photography contest that takes place every year.
I have never entered my work into a contest but figured it was worth a shot! With this contest each individual can enter up to 50 photos. These photos must fit into a specific group of 25 different categories. These very from phone photography to landscape to styled bridal shoots, weddings and more. In 2018 there were over 412,000 images submitted world wide.
I took a "leap of faith" and entered 13 images. Why I didn't enter all 50 I have no idea! I was nervous about people judging my work. I was worried the competition would be significantly better than the shots I submitted...I didn't want to take too much of a risk.
A few days into the contest I only had two hearts, I had no idea what that meant but figured it wasn't good so I quit following my submissions. This contest goes on for almost 2 months, so it would be a while before I saw the true results. While the contest was going strong into the 10th round I received a spontaneous message from one of my fellow colleagues. They saw one of MY images...in ROUND 10!! I was shocked, excited, and also sad I quit following my own work so early. I should have been more confident in my submissions.
In the end, the image my fellow photographer saw placed 288 out of 8,800 images in "Emotion and Excitement". It also ranked in the TOP 3% out of the total 412,000+ entries. When I got my complete results it turns out 6 of my 13 images placed in the top 30% or better. I can't wait to continue to capture more amazing moments and see if I can set the bar even higher in next year's contest!

Della Terra Wedding
Estes Park Colorado
March 2018
Della Terra is a gorgeous wedding venue nestled in Estes Park, just outside the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. On my way to Tim and Ashleigh's wedding it was a gorgeous sunny day in Denver. By the time I arrived in Estes Park it was raining. This can be a brides worst nightmare while she is eagerly anticipating her fairytale outdoor wedding. As we started to document her hair and makeup the snow began to fall. Ashleigh looked hesitant but she was certain her wedding would be outside!
Ashleigh's dress hung beautifully in the floor to ceiling windows accompanied with her daughter's flower girl gown. With Ashleigh's dress there is a story. Her dress was purchased before her and Tim were officially engaged. In the summer of 2015 Ashleigh had to have a life saving surgery that landed her in the hospital for over a week. During this time Ashleigh's grandma had come to town to visit her during her recovery. Even though they weren't engaged Tim and Ashleigh had been talking marriage. That summer Ashleigh went to the bridal boutique with her mom, sisters, daughter and her grandmother. After trying on what she had envisioned was her perfect dress her grandmother commented; "That is perfect and you look like a princess, you don't need to try on anymore. This is your dress!" Unfortunately due to failing health her grandmother was not able to make it to her and Tim's wedding but we all know she was there in spirit with Ashleigh's beautiful dress!
Della Terra has a limited number of suites available but if you ever have the opportunity to visit this mountain chateau, the honeymoon suits are stunning. We opted to have Ashleigh put on her wedding gown in one of these beautiful rooms.
By the time Tim and Ashleigh were ready for their first look it had snowed and cleared at least 3-4 different times. Due to the ever evolving weather of snow/sun/snow again their outdoor first look was changed to this indoor impromptu fireplace location. It was still adorable even though we couldn't do it outside! Following their first look we opted to take advantage of another great location on the Della Terra property and continue with some more formal photos.
The timing was incredible and snow cleared just as it was time for Ashleigh to head down the isle. With this entrance she truly did get her fairytale wedding. She arrived at the bridge in her horse and carriage on her fathers arm. It was absolutely a show stopping moment!
Just as we were wrapping up the couples formal photos the snow rolled in AGAIN!! Not many can say that they have wedding photos with bright shining sun and a near blizzard all in the same album!
During the speeches I cry almost every time. They are always so heartfelt and filled with genuine emotion. When Ashleigh's father spoke it certainly tugged on my heart strings! As I mentioned earlier, Ashleigh needed a life saving surgery in 2015. During her fathers speech he gave special recognition to the person that saved his daughters life. It was her maid of honor and and also her sister, Maurisa.
Ashleigh needed to have a liver transplant due to a rare and incurable liver disease called Wilson's disease. In November of 2014 Ashleigh added her name to the National Organ Donation Registry. However, in February of 2015 they confirmed Maurisa was an exact match and she could donate a portion of her liver to her sister and save her life! Ashleigh was in the hospital for 8 days and Tim never left her side! Since her surgery they have remained huge advocates of organ donation. Ashleigh is even the United States Ambassador for the World Transplant Games Federation.

Caitlin and Matt are so adorable. We had a wonderful time shooting their engagement session at Metzger Farms during sunset. They have been together for the last few years and recently got engaged. Shortly following their engagement they bought a new house along with 2 parakeets to join their family. I can't wait to shoot their winter wedding next February.
The light at Metzger Farms was perfect with the reflection off the lake. For a quiet and romantic engagement session, this is the ultimate spot to capture your love!
On their first anniversary Matt made this sign for Caitlin. "Love to infinity and beyond" has become their relationship expression.
When the sun is about to set and your given this magical sunset, you must shoot the perfect silhouette.

Sometimes you are given the opportunity to do more than just take a picture. Sometimes you are given the opportunity to capture a moment that truly will last forever. Sometimes people reach out to you to document real life as it is today because they know real life may be different tomorrow.
This moment was one of those that changed quickly for this beautiful family. A mutual friend reached out to me just days before Christmas, on behalf of Pastor Terry's family. Our friend wanted to gift Terry's family a photo session. They had just found out Terry's wife had an unfortunate medical diagnosis. Terry's family had made last minute plans so most of their family would be in town to celebrate Christmas with their grandmother, mother, wife and best friend.
On a beautiful day in December, just a few days after Christmas I spent an afternoon with Terry's family. We spent the day documenting moments with most of their kids and grandchildren. We were able to get some amazing shots of almost all of their family together. Most importantly Brenda was glowing with true happiness while we captured these memories to last a lifetime.
In March of 2018 miss Brenda was called on to her next duty. However, her family continues to recall that wonderful day where we captured Brenda in all her glowing beauty with her infectious smile.
These celebration of life sessions aren't easy, its a challenge for everyone to put on that happy face knowing that the endless questions are running through their mind. Not to mention the pain and sadness they are suppressing to make their smiles and happiness shine through. This family was so brave and strong to allow me in to document such a delicate time in their life. My heart goes out to them during this difficult time. May they find peace in the days ahead. ❤❤

Styled Bridal Shoot
Location: Metzger Farm Open Space
Date: February 2018
Hair Styling: Tina Marie
Sometimes you get a vision and you want to make that vision a reality. After shooting as a second photographer at a wonderful winter wedding at Copper Mountain, I really wanted to shoot more "brides" in that gorgeous snowy winter setting. The task, finding "brides" that could model for me and make this dream come true. Luckily due to a large network of wonderful colleagues I was able to find three gorgeous ladies who were willing to help me out. Not only did I find the models, I also found a fantastic hair stylist who was willing to help make these brides feel like it was their wedding day all over again. Tina did an amazing job to help pull this styled shoot together!
We met at our house where I had breakfast and mimosas ready. Tina already had a plan for styling each of the "brides" and the gals were all super helpful with creating the makeup styles I had requested.
The next task was finding snow. We had planned to drive to the mountains but lucked out, it was snowing the entire time the girls were getting ready. Instead of driving as much as a few hours to find the perfect location, the three brides all in their dresses loaded into my car for just a few minute drive instead! We completed their winter wedding styled images at Metzger Farm.
The last piece to tie this shoot together was fur. I dreamt of wedding dresses, snow and fur but I hadn't been able to find what I was truly looking for. Then I got the ultimate surprise when on of my models showed up with two different fur options that worked perfectly with their bridal gowns. My dream styled shoot was coming together!
Check out all these gorgeous images we were able to create!
Jaylene and I have known each other for over 15 years. We met in college and have stayed connected ever since. When we finished college "Jay" moved to Denver with some mutual friends and I moved to Minneapolis. Just a few months later I decided Denver was where I needed to be. I packed up all my belongings and headed to live near my bestie. However, after just one short year Jay decided "home" was where she needed to be and she left Denver to marry her one true love, Robbie.
Jay and Robbie have continued to live in that small home town in Minnesota. However, Jay's mom (Judy) and step-dad (Steve) reside here in Colorado. It has been wonderful to continue to connect when they come to visit. It may just be a quick lunch here or brewery tour there, but we always pick up just where we left off.
Jay and her family arrived in Colorado on December 22nd to celebrate Christmas here this past year. Jay noticed some changes in her mom and was concerned for her health. On December 23rd as we continued to discuss our last minute lunch plans for Christmas Eve, everything changed. Earlier that day Jay had urged her mom to head to the doctor in Fort Collins, just to confirm everything was "ok." What everyone thought may take just an hour our two turned into several hours of uneasy anticipation. The questions started to run through their mind, whats really wrong with mom?
After spending the entire day in Fort Collins, in and out of different doctors offices and the hospital, Judy and Steve were headed home to tell their family the dreadful news. Judy has pancreatic cancer. How could they possibly break this news to their family when they had plans to gather around the Christmas tree and open gifts with all the ones they loved?
While the adults hid their tears and fought back their emotions they gave the grandchildren the Christmas they had hoped for. The news could be shared with the kids on a different day. Later that week the children were told that Grandma was sick but they continued to try and make the most of their trip.
This family is very near to my heart and I suggested we tackle a photo session before Jay and her family headed home. It may have been one of the hardest sessions I have ever captured but it will always be one of the most memorable too. The preview below shows the true joy and love this family has for one another. I am so honored to have met them so many years ago. I am also grateful they allowed me to capture these powerful images during their time or sorrow.
I entered the image above into free world wide photography contest. It shows such true love without words. This is "capturing your life as it happens." Over 412,000 images were entered into this particular contest. This image was voted upon by photographers around the world as well as individuals like you. In the end it was ranked in the top 3% of all submissions. True love conquers all!!
A big thank you also goes out to Osborn Farm for allowing us to use their property on such last minute notice. They were very accommodating and we couldn't have had a more perfect location to shoot these images.
I had the pleasure of being the second shooter for Conrad and Lucy's wedding. Conrad and Lucy got married at the Lionsgate Event Center in Lafayette Colorado. Their wedding took place just after the new year. What a great way to start a new year with a new marriage!
Lucy's wedding gown was stunning with beautiful flowers and lace.
Conrad and Lucy opted to do a first look before their wedding ceremony. The Chandelier Barn at the Lionsgate Event Center was a perfect place for them to see each other for the first time. Conrad's smile was perfectly genuine. It brought tears to Lucy's eyes immediately!
When your grandson is getting married, you have to make sure you look your best too!
Conrad's grandmother had that same infectious smile almost every time I looked at her. She was certainly enjoying her day, as she watched her grandson say "I do" to the gal of his dreams.
Lucy's veil was absolutely stunning. She definitely had a show stopping look as she walked down the isle.
Their first dance was fabulous. They clearly had put some time and practice into their moves. All their guests were on their feet and applauding by the time they were done. They even took the time to get in a quick bow when they were all finished.
When two families become one, you unite EVERYONE in a full family photo.
Cheers to the happy couple!
I met up with Cory and Alex in Larimer Square just before Christmas. The decor was beautiful and these clients were so easy and wonderful to photograph. Sure we may have been chased out of an alley by a trash truck but these images show we still had the perfect downtown holiday photography session. Cory and Alex moved to Denver CO from Colorado Springs. Downtown Denver always had a special place in their heart so this was the perfect setting for their Christmas Cards. We also had the opportunity to play with some Off Camera Flash and catch some great candid shots in our new alley. If this style is what you desire in your next engagement session I would love to take the opportunity to get you scheduled!

The Lee family contacted me just before Thanksgiving to schedule their outdoor family photo session. They decided when your daughter is visiting from college you have to squeeze in a family portrait session with the grandparents. It was a beautiful afternoon with at the 17 Mile Farm House. The sun rays were gorgeous, the wind wasn't blowing and we made these beautiful portraits take place with for lovely family.

Together with the help of so many amazing people we put on a full Thanksgiving dinner to help the homeless in Downtown Denver. We filled their plates and their bellies with turkey or ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, apple or pumpkin pie and hot coffee or water. It was an incredible experience to help over 200 hundred people during the holidays. We put smiles on their faces and filled our hearts. It was a blessing to photograph these moments as well as contribute 30 lbs of home cooked mashed potatoes to their dinner!

Chris and Samantha had been dating for years. In June, it was time for them to tie the knot. I was honored when they requested Captured Perspective as their one and only wedding photographer. A little ( or a lot ) of pouring rain on their wedding day didn't stop them from having their dream wedding. The wedding venue was "The Barn" at Dunvilla. They has always spent their summers at the lakes in Minnesota so a venue near the lakes seemed like the perfect choice for their summer wedding. Congratulations Chris and Samantha!! Please enjoy their wedding preview.

Here is a recap of their day!
Nadine was a gorgeous bride. Her hair and makeup came out perfectly!
Check out this beautiful bouquet. The colors were so bright and vibrant.
Nadine's dress was perfect. However, there was a story behind her dress that was not so perfect. Especially when your wedding day is just days away. Nadine's dress was custom made to go along with her Indian Fusiosn wedding theme. When her custom dress finally arrived it was made in the wrong color fabric. The first dress was just a gorgeous, luckily her second dress arrived less than 48 hours before her wedding!
Absolutely in love with this shot!! The bridesmaids in their Indian theme dresses pull this entire wedding together perfectly.
Kevin and Nadine didn't do a first look on their wedding day. I love capturing that true look on the groom's face the first time they see their beautiful bride!
Who wouldn't love that backdrop for their wedding day?
Not only was it Nadine's wedding day. It was also her sister's birthday!
